The Plough, in common with many of the cottages in the historic centre of Town Yetholm, is officially listed and protected as a building of architectural importance. The present main building is late 18th century to early 19th century, remodelled and extended late 19th to early 20th centry. However, history suggests there is every likelihood of an earlier inn on this site long before the 18th century.
